The cheeky, synth-pop British pair, the Pet Shop Boys, is releasing “Yes,” a new CD next month. On which includes “Love Etc.,” which could be taken up as a theme song by those looking to ratchet back the slavish pursuit of material gains.

Off the Mark by Mark Parisi

The kids had their first soccer games of the season today. The girl’s team won 6-1, while the boy’s squad dropped their game, 3-1.

In the middle of halftime of the girl’s game, the boy wanted to practice ball-handling skills, so I tried to steal the ball from him. Not a great move for RCR, as I caught my toe in the turf, stepped on the ball with my other foot, lost my balance and boofed flat on my back… feel like all the king’s horse and all the king’s men couldn’t wrench my back any worse than I managed to do this morning.
