The girl (left) and her cousins in Paris.

OK, so the translation of the above headline is roughly:

My ten-year-old daughter went to Paris and all I got was this lousy blog post.”

Yeah, she’s on a 10-day tour of Paris with her grandparents and two older cousins. I’m still toiling away in the summer heat of Atlanta. I’m not bitter, though. Even if I’ve not been to Europe yet. Even if I am 43 years old. No, I’m not bitter.

Even her brother is taking it better than I am. But he’s been promised a trip of his own next summer. He can’t decide where he wants to go… either Australia or the Galapagos Islands. C’est la vie.

But she is blogging about her trip, which is nice. She’s actually producing, along with her cousins, a nice little travelogue blog. An example of her thoughts on watching the end of the Tour de France:

bad news, today we had to wait for like 3 hours. good news, in that time i got presents for daddy and lindsey at a cute little souvenir shop. so madison got a photo finish video of the winner that we`re going to try to put up on the site. if not, oh well, we got a lot of cool pictures including 1 of me eating lunch in the gutter. we also met a really nice family who you will see in one of the pictures. anyway, la tour de france was very cool before all the bikers came out there were like a million floats of french candy and other stuff. it was like a parade. so, anyway, i miss all of you very much. goodbye. p.s- lindsey i didn`t get you a mona lisa tie”

Well, there you have it. You try and raise your kids the right way and the first chance they get, you find them in the gutter in Paris. Kids… what are you going to do with them?
