Having recently discovered the Distant Thunder Whisky Club—small group of enthusiasts in Sydney, Australia, who come together every few months to talk, drink, and discuss the world of whisky (particularly single malt Scotch Whisky)—I’ve been reading its blog and thinking that I need to find or found such a group here in Metro Atlanta.
So I’m putting out the call for (single malt Scotch) whisky drinkers who would like to come together every month or two and sample the wares of different distilleries.
Now, I don’t know too much about Scotch—only what I learned from the little guy in the kilt at all those Johnny Walker tastings I attended in San Francisco in the mid-1990s—but I know what I like. We can all learn together. So if you are interested, leave a comment with an e-mail address and I’ll see what I can to. I guess I’m taking name suggestions, too. Until we meet and there is a vote, the default name will be the Red Clay Whisky Club.
For those of you living too far away, I suppose there can be a visitor’s membership or even an affiliate program if you start a club of your own somewhere else.
Until the first meeting, get yourself a glass of the good stuff:
Ah, it’s ta’ a group of good fellows, like these that ar’ here,
And a bottle like this, that I heartily cheer.
