Down here in Dixie, they don’t trust no Yankee nohow, especially a Yankee rodent.
While most of the country gets its long-term weather forecast from that woodchuck up in Pennsylvania, Southerners rely on General Beauregard Lee, the resident groundhog at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn, Ga., to tell them if spring is on the way.
And this morning, Gen. Lee emerged from his “Weathering Heights” home at 7:41 a.m. and did not see his shadow, which means spring is just around the corner. And this groundhog should know: he’s got a 94-percent accuracy rating.
Meanwhile, up north, that Punxsutawney Phony, seeing Beau’s report on his Twitter feed, also, predicted an early spring.
