OK, so I had to take a trip to New York City a couple weeks ago for business. Yeah, part of my job actually includes me occasionally winging to Manhattan, where I have to talk with writers, bloggers and reporters about the future of Arts Journalism at Christie’s Auction House in Rockefeller Center. Yeah, I get paid for this. Anyway, I took advantage of the situation and posted another restaurant review for the travel web site UpTake.com:
So, having to be in New York, I spent much of my down time stretching my legs and checking out some of the things to see and do around Rockefeller Center, Broadway and Times Square, among other places. I had some great meals and saw some great things—and, surprisingly, only one disturbing sight: a six-foot Elmo, off the Sesame Street reservation, panhandling on Sixth Avenue. But I’m going to begin at the end.
Having spent a good portion of the night (and early morning) before out at the jazz club Birdland, I was getting a late start on this particular Thursday morning and needed some sustenance before my mid-afternoon flight. Luckily, I knew of a place that I could get breakfast despite the late hour, and it was only across the street from where I was staying, the Stay Hotel on West 47th Street, only half a block from Broadway: Langan’s Irish Pub.
