Cool Patio Dining: Cypress Street Pint & Plate, Atlanta
OK, so it was another scorcher in Atlanta. Yeah, imagine that; temperatures in the low to mid 90s. After taking care of some office errands—walking to the bank, the office supply store, the Georgia Tech Book Store—Willie, Britt and I decided that lunch was in order; and if we could find it, we’d like to sit outside in the shade (day after day of air conditioning was taking its toll). When in Midtown, there are more than a couple of choices that fit this bill
Situated on the other side of the block from the Biltmore on 6th and Cypress Streets and facing East, the sun had already passed over the front covered patio of the Cypress Street Pint & Plate. The shade (along with several ceiling fans) gave the outdoor seating area a definite 20-degree difference from the heat of the unprotected sun.
While the inside of the restaurant offered a fully stocked modern bar and even private party rooms, there are also outdoor patio tables with umbrellas; but that just wasn’t going to offer the cooling shade and relief from air conditioning we were looking for. We decided to sit at the high tables next to the building where Kelly, our server with a London accent, handed us clipboards with the CSP&P’s summer lunch menu and we got down to the business of lunch.
