OK, so I’m going to just come out and say it, although it’s really an absurd statement: the best steak I have had in a long time was served at a restaurant inside of a combination bowling alley-kids arcade in the middle of nowhere Georgia. Yeah, really. If you’d like to know where, read my restaurant review on the travel web site UpTake.com:
Coach’s Corner Calls a Winner: Stars and Strikes, Dacula Ga.
Alright, here’s the back story: My mom came from California a few weeks ago for a visit with me and the kids. One afternoon we all went to Stars and Strikes in Dacula—a spot on the map somewhere between Atlanta and Athens—with the intention of bowling a couple of games, letting the kids go nuts in the arcade for a while and having a kid-friendly dinner.
Now, if you’ve ever been in a bowling alley before, you probably have an idea of what fare that might be available: room-temperature pizza, wrinkly hot dogs, stale pop corn, etc. Even under the best of circumstances, bowling alley food is not the best to be found.
But this was a day for the kids, and they’ll eat just about anything, so I figured we’d all make due.
