J.T. at Atheism Resource came up with this “how to hold a rational discussion” flowchart, but it really applies to any discussion about religion, politics, who would win in a fight between comic book superheroes and rating fantasy baseball draft choices, among other topics:

If all involved would simple rely on reason (not emotion) and enter into a discussion with the goal to make valid points and consider what the other person is saying, then we might be able to actually solve some of the community, national and world problems. Otherwise, we’re f*cked.
