OK, so evidently, today is officially the Least Productive Work Day of the Year, dubbed so because it is the first day of the NCAA National Basketball Championship Tournament, and 16 games will be televised today (with another 16 tomorrow). Someone calculated that 34 bazillion hours of office productivity will be lost over the coming weeks as employees will be doing their darnedest to keep up with the games and track their brackets, hoping to win the pool and earn the right to be called Basketball Bracketologist in Chief for the next 12 months.
I admit, I used to get involved in all the hoopla, but I also worked in a newsroom, where TVs were always tuned into one game or another. But the allure of the NCAA tourney has faded for me, so much so that I didn’t fill out a bracket this year (although the boy did fill one out for himself on his own… so I guess the mantle has been passed). Still, I’m sure I’ll watch some of the games, and may even stream a game on-line later this afternoon…
But while driving in to work this morning, I came to a stop at a red light across the intersection from the Cheetah, otherwise known as “the best strip club in Atlanta.”
I’ve never patronized the place myself, but it looked like the club was going to do some heavy business today, as a local sports talk radio program was doing a live remote and there were signs a plenty advertising tournament games would be on the big-screen TVs inside. And it being St. Patrick’s Day too, there’d be green beer to boot. I have never seen so many cars in the club’s parking lot.
Basketball, boobs and beer… it doesn’t get any better than that, does it boys?
I’m usually off Mondays or Fridays. Just let me know when you want to do an UpTake.com food review of Cheetahs.
I’ll even pay so you don’t get in trouble.
